How Our Age Calculator Works

The Basic Calculation

Our age calculator works by taking your date of birth and comparing it to today's date using precise date arithmetic. The result is broken down into years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds — all calculated simultaneously in real time inside your browser.

How We Handle Leap Years

Leap years add an extra day (February 29) every four years, with exceptions for century years not divisible by 400. Our calculator accounts for every leap year between your birth date and today, ensuring your day count is always accurate to the exact calendar.

Time Zone Accuracy

All calculations are based on your local device time. This means if you were born in New York and are currently in London, the calculator uses your device's current local time. For absolute precision, make sure your device clock is set correctly.

Why Results May Differ from Other Calculators

Some calculators round months or approximate weeks. Ours does not. We calculate exact calendar months elapsed, then exact remaining days — which is why our results sometimes differ slightly from simpler tools that use a fixed 30-day month approximation.
